Engineering - Project Engineering - Engineering Information Systems and Support This Position Computer Aided Design (CAD) Solutions Support Engineer • Reports to: Engineering Information Systems & Support Manager • Supervision of: N/A • Liaises with: Disciplines focal points, Engineers, Designers, IT, Engineering Software & Systems Engineer, PDMS Coordinators, Scientific Software Support Engineers, Application Software Developers, Suppliers and Subcontractors as appropriate. RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide specialist front line problem solving and expert advice, assistance and support on CAD applications deployed and used across the company. • Provide expert knowledge and support, testing and deployment of changes and improvements to the CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) tools set and applications. • Recognize necessary improvements and makes suggestions to the discipline manager. • Evaluate user needs and system functionality and ensure that facilities meet these needs. MAIN TASKS • Define and deliver tools set procedures, methods and best practices to designers. • Define, deliver and maintain key training materials and courses for specialist CAD applications used in the company (mainly Catia / Enovia and Autocad). • Define, deliver and support data management processes, improvements and quality. • Mentor and manage trainees, including graduates and apprentices. • Seek out and identify opportunities for business improvement. • Facilitate meetings and/or technical definition/change workshops across the company and with CAD suppliers. • Understand configuration management principles and their application. • Support the development and deployment of CAD / PDM capability into the company. • Identify key software vendors to the Manager. • Provide weekly reports on project. • Work closely with other departments and disciplines to coordinate activities including coordination to facilitate specific development for projects.
