Database System Administrator - Human Capital Group Qatar Feb 26th 2013, 08:01 1. Ensure a proper database/log dump schedule for all databases (including master) is working properly. 2. Regularly loading backups on the development server to ensure that it has been taken properly subject to environment available and provided by the bank. 3. Maintaining database security. 4. Adding logins and granting privileges to specific users. 5. Run dbcc on all databases regularly (at least weekly) to ensure database consistency, and follow up any corruption problems found. 6. Monitor the server error log for messages indicating problems. 7. Monitor the backup server error log for messages indicating problems 8. Monitor overall database performance. 9. Monitoring space used for each database 10. Allocating and reorganizing space used by each database. 11. Ensure that update statistics run successfully. 12. Applying release notes issued by IT Departments on Live server after approval as per the change management procedure. 13. Running any other database purging with agreement of the bank and as per the change management procedure. 14. Reviewing database databases structure for better enhancement. 15. Applying db patches when required as per the change management procedure. 16. Monitoring Replication server performance. 17. Checking the consistency of all the databases in the Replication system. 18. Monitoring Replication server queues and ensuring that data has been delivered to the standby server successfully. 19. Responsible for the recoverability and availability of the Database. 20. Insures the integrity and reliability of the database 21. Maintain database logical naming conventions 22. Define users with standards (details, naming convention) 23. Maintaining backup jobs and tape backup system. 24. Daily close of business COB / daily batches.
