Role Summary/Purpose
To check the equipment is ready for commissioning and to carry out commissioning safely to defined instructions and record results in preparation of a complete hand-over to customer.
Essential Responsibilities
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES 1. To be competent and have a proven record of HV/LV plant and systems commissioning. 2. Commissioning and setting to work of all fixed and variable speed drive systems. Drive systems include PWM, DC and legacy thyristor based drives and their associated analogue and digital regulators, including transformers and motors. Marine applications include Propulsion and ancillary drives systems is a plus. 3. Servicing and fault finding on diverse drives systems ranging from legacy analogue equipment to modern digital systems, either on land or in a Marine environment.. 4. Installation and checking of all Cabling, switchboards, circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, motors, UPS systems and generators are a plus. 5. To produce as commissioned documentation in accordance with independently audited Company Quality and Safety Management Systems e.g. BS EN 18001 and Classification Societies e.g. Lloyds Register and DNV. 6. Support the execution of initiatives whose aim is to reduce commissioning cycle times & customer complaints. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To act in the role of 'Competent Person' as required by the Electricity at Work Regulations and other legislation, with regard to the administration of Operational Safety including the issuing of Permits to Work, Sanction for Test and Limitation of Access documentation. 2. Assist in producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, in accordance with company policy and relevant.
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications/Training:* Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from a reputable College or University.* Recognised Health and Safety training in risk assessment.Experience:* Experienced with variable speed drive systems.* Experienced with PC/PLC equipment.* Must have established record of site work.* Record of MV/HV training and operations.Personal Qualities* Presentable.* Good English communication skills, written and verbal.* Self-Motivated, Dynamic.* Able to work independently of others with minimal support in a customer facing environment. This is a highly demanding role frequently working under pressure. * Customer focused.Other* Clean Driving Licence.* Flexible attitude to working pattern is required.* Willing and eligible to work world-wide and offshore.
Desired Characteristics
* Valid Offshore survival training certificate.* Valid Safety training certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.* Familiarity with IEC and marine classification society rules.* Some knowledge of programming techniques and languages.* Marine and Offshore experienced.
