Purpose and Scope
Carries out field measurements and tests, as per standard procedures, on corrosion protection systems in order to mitigate corrosion in wells, pipelines, process plants, storage tanks and marine structures, employing well maintained monitoring equipment and records the results. Carries out the day to day corrosion monitoring activities on oil, gas and water injection systems. Enters the monitored data into computer and issues relevant reports.
Accountabilities
Carries out all corrosion tests/surveys in accordance with CIMS procedures.
Review new corrosion monitoring techniques and methods.
Carries out the Cathodic Protection "CP" monitoring surveys/programs on wells, buried structures, main oil lines, trunklines and transferlines, marine structure …etc.). Checks system integrity and make adjustments as required ( cable, terminal, current, volt … ect.).
Carries out base potential surveys/soil resistivity surveys and arranges for anode, transformer/rectifier and current control box installation and maintenance.
Implements the coating repair and painting programs.
Ensures availability of required materials, tools and equipment.
Supervises/directs the contractor personnel and report work progress.
Retrieves the corrosion coupons in oil, gas and water injection systems as per the monitoring programs. Identify types of corrosion.
Carries out wellhead surface casing inspection and follow up repairs as required
Coordinates intelligent pigging surveys on Main oil lines, transferlines and trunklines. Maintain records to assist in locating the reported anomalies.
Prepares daily, weekly and progress/status reports. Enters data into computer as necessary
Prepares material requisitions, up-dates consumable and equipment inventories.
Understands the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policy, and how it relates to his job. Performs his work in a safe and efficient manner, and is familiar with relevant safe working procedures and practices that relate to his job.
Completion of Secondary education (12 years) followed by 3 years full time training leading to a Diploma in Electrochemistry, Metallurgical or Corrosion engineering.
