PRODUCTION MANAGER Dec 26th 2012, 13:10 Safety  Audit and take preventive measures to rectify unsafe conditions that eliminate possibilities of injuries.  Communicating importance of safety to subordinates through 1 to 1 sessions...  No Loss time accidents. Manufacturing Costs  Monitor and take control measures in man power utilisation and staff costs to keep the cost within acceptable budget limits  Cost per kg within acceptable limits of annual budget Maintenance Cost  Plan, budget and obtain approval for process equipment and machinery maintenance.  Approved costs are communicated to relevant cost centre managers,monitor spend advice deviations to take corrective actions within annual budget Plant Efficiency  Prepare, implement and monitor planned preventive maintenance of process machinery to. Ensure plant efficiency glide within agreed limits.  Plant operational efficiency in maintained as per glide path. Product quality  Analyse and take corrective actions to assure the products manufactured glides within budgeted levels.  Defects are controlled within acceptable limits. Scrap and waste  Plan and conduct monthly stock counts and analyse Material losses in order to take corrective action plans. .  Waste and scrap is within acceptable limits... Human Resources • Identify areas for improvement in subordinates and coach regularly, providing training mainly within organisation to enhance capability. • Prepare performance appraisals of all subordinates in order to have a clear evaluation for all.  Increase subordinate skills and competencies.  Timely fulfilment of production department objectives.  Appraisal completion Project management  Plan, implement and control project work relating to manufacturing activities. Completion of machinery and equipment installation and commissioning without impacting business results. 5. JOB CONTEXT: Scope : The job holder is responsible for manufacturing and plant maintenance activities within Tea Industry Contextual Factors : The challenges in this job are:  Meeting production targets with a highly variable production forecast.  Management of multi-racial man power pool.  Coping with cultural and behavioural issues of people management.  Communication barriers.  Coping with shortage of skilled staff. .
