Major Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for customer assistance, cash register, operation, sales/monetary transactions, opening/closing procedures.
2. Maintain positive customer and employees relations; reporting any problems/complaints immediately to the store manager.
3. Assist with inventory, display, merchandising and placement of stock on sales floor, stock rotation and mark-downs.
4. Assist with picking or straightening up or arranging merchandise and housekeeping tasks to ensure neat, clean, and safe working environment.
5. Become familiar with and use proper handling techniques and equipment to ensure safe handling of merchandise.
6. Become familiar with and follow store policies and procedures as well as general company policies.
7. Be aware of possible damage, theft or potential safety hazards, reporting observations immediately to store manager.
8. Follow and enforce all company procedures.
9. Perform the duties as requested.
Job Specifications:
1. Prior retail sale and/or cashiering experience
2. Ability to maintain self-control and deal effectively with public and work in cooperation with coworkers.
3. Ability to tactfully explain decisions or present information clearly, as it pertains to store policies.
4. Ability to perform arithmetic, and count money/change quickly and accurately.
5. Ability to learn and accurately perform opening/closing procedures, cash register operation and related paperwork quickly and accurately as they pertain to store operations.
6. Ability to coordinate hand-eye-foot movements to safely handle and/or move merchandise to minimise damage, eliminating hazards and accidents/injuries.
7. Ability to move hands and fingers quickly to count money/change and operate cash register.
8. Ability to accept directions, follow procedures and perform both repetitive and varied duties without loss of composure or efficiency.
9. Ability to understand and communicate clearly in English.
Physical Demands:
Work pace is fast and steady requiring lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs consistently. On a regular basis heavier items of up to 50 lbs will be lifted/carried either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment.
