Head – Credit Risk Policy and Analytics - American Express

Maintains and ensure prompt implementation of the existing credit policy and track deviations (if any).
Modifies the credit policy based on identified opportunities and risks in areas of account origination, portfolio management and collections.
Recommends credit policy changes in response to changes in market and economic environment and secure timely approval for implementation.
Uses advanced analytic techniques and scoring models to propose credit policy changes in various risk functions in order to improve profitability and efficiency
 Generates periodic reports for senior management team about credit policy changes and their impact.
Works with other departments (such as sales, marketing, customer service, etc.) on projects / campaigns and provides sound credit risk advice.

Analytics
Maintains and proposes modifications to existing MIS platform for sound credit risk portfolio management.
Develops the MIS platform so as to be in a position to generate ad- hoc MIS reports at the request of senior management.
 Reviews and publishes credit MIS deck with high level of accuracy at prescribed frequency.
 Develops custom scorecards / decision trees for the risk and marketing including application scorecard, behavior scorecard, attrition scorecard, campaign response models, market basket analysis, etc.
Maintains existing scorecards and periodically assesses their performance to determine need for changing cut-off scores, re-alignment or re-development.
Frames risk management policies to optimize the approval rate within acceptable credit risk parameters. Manages the dual decision score matrix, implements changes in underwriting tool and advise / train the New Accounts team accordingly
Tracks the new account performance and advise score cut-offs as per observed trends of delinquency and impairments.
Manages behaviour and transaction scorecards and uses them extensively for the purpose of portfolio and account management.
 Manages the consumer charge shadow limit policy in accordance to increasing score-odds and tracks the performance of current strategies. Recommends for revisions to improve profitability.
Reviews high exposure and low behaviour score accounts along with corresponding credit bureau records and advises intervention
Proposes new ideas and tests them through appropriate champion / challenger techniques.
Explores innovative approaches to study and assess credit risk using data in cardmember application, demographic, credit bureau, behavioural and transaction data.
