Job purpose:
Support the principles and the implementation of Abu Dhabi Education Council's reform agenda including the New School Model (NSM) which underpins change at the classroom level and is an on going process aimed at comprehensive P‐12 reform. To work with a group of schools with a focus on the effectiveness of school leadership (Principal, Vice Principals and other leaders in the school) and their confidence and competence to lead and train school staff in line with ADEC's priority focus areas.
As part of the project management team to work with colleagues on the following:
• Development of a range of leadership courses and follow up in-school activities including:
- increasing confidence in school self evaluation
- effective collection of evidence and the uses of data for assessment and school improvement
- the development of instructional and management leadership
• Regular training and coaching sessions for individuals and school based leadership teams
• Plan and lead / facilitate small group seminars for cluster leaders
• Write and refine courses and activities to meet ADEC requirements and school needs
• Ensure training modules are user-friendly with bilingual trainer guides so they can be delivered by school leaders and ADEC in the future.
Job objectives:
The post holder will:
• Support the Principal and school management team through an initial training needs analysis process and on going reviews of training needs, preparing reports for ADEC
• Provide differentiated levels of support for school leadership teams based on cluster needs analysis under the direction of the Programme Director
• Support the promotion of national culture and heritage
• Support ADEC's biliteracy policy
• Promote networking and working across schools to share good practice and collaborative approaches to school improvement, working towards a sustainable model of local capacity building for professional development
• Build capacity of school leaders to plan and deliver training to staff in the following areas (depending on school cycle) responding to individuals' and schools' identified needs targeted to improving student outcomes, including:
• Pedagogical practice to deliver effective learning - planning, instruction, resources, etc.
• Classroom management and positive behaviour strategies
• Special needs and gifted & talented education
• Understanding characteristics of and meeting the needs of young adult learners
• Assessment literacy - assessment for learning
• English proficiency for staff
• Community relationships and inclusion
• Development of competencies in the ADEC Teacher Standards
• Development of competencies in the ADEC Principal Standards
• Promote the best interests of the client when working with other providers and agencies associated with the client such as monitoring agencies
• Enhance the reputation by the quality of professional interaction when in any public forum such as seminars, conferences and exhibitions
