Job Purpose:
• Provide some field oversight of any remaining contractors' geotechnical investigations.
• Develop independent logs of selected excavations.
• Check field data and assist with inspection of laboratory testing program.
• Interpret field data from investigations obtained by the contractors.
• Interpret instrumentation and monitoring data obtained by the contractors.
• Design site investigation, assist in the procurement of contractors and provide oversight of the odour control facilities geotechnical investigation.
• Assist STEP team with the development of any tender documents for the odour control facilities contract/s.
• Review geotechnical aspects of the design build contractors' design and method statement submittals
• Assist STEP team with geotechnical related UPC claims
• Provide other geotechnical support to the STEP team.
Job Responsibilities/Accountability:
• Assist in the implementation of geotechnical investigations required for any further construction contracts (odour control facilities), manage field oversight and assist in the approvals and permitting for the investigations.
• Verify and validate any field and laboratory data.
• Review the Geotechnical Investigation Contractor prepared Geotechnical Data Reports.
• Prepare any further Geotechnical Interpretive Reports required for the STEP programme components.
• Manage any geotechnical staff assigned to the STEP team
• Provide the STEP Team with any geotechnical advice and prepare memoranda or reports as required
• Provide the STEP Team with any technical assistance on geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring
• Manage the oversight of the STEP contractors geotechnical investigations and ensure compliance with the contract
• Monitor the contractors' compliance with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring requirements
• Attend monitoring meeting with STEP contractors where requested by the Resident Engineers and maintain an overview on the monitoring data across the contracts
• Provide technical reviews on the contractors' design submittals in a timely manner
• Provide technical reviews on relevant contractors' method statements in a timely manner
• Manage responses to contractors' geotechnical related RFIs
• Assist the STEP Contracts Manager with advice on any geotechnical related claims
• Make frequent inspections of the major excavations and manage independent logging of these excavations
• In conjunction with the STEP Resident Engineers teams, monitor compliance of contractors' methods of face logging and determining methods of ground support
• Maintain geotechnical records for the STEP contracts
• Give geotechnical presentations to the Employer's organisation as required
