Purpose of the Post

The task of the Missing Person Assistant will be to assist the dept Delegates on various levels: in meetings, contacts, translations and provision of information. This position will be based in Baghdad Delegation with frequent site visits to the field (across IQ). Main focus will be to develop the existing networks/platforms in this file.

Main Responsibilities

In coordination with the delegates of the Protection/Missing Persons File the staff member will

• Monitors the media and do a general follow-up of the issue of missing persons in Iraq and the humanitarian consequences on the families,
• Supports the missing file delegates in charge with: contacts, meetings (incl. oral translation from Arabic to English and v/v), provision of information, and commit translation of documents from Arabic to English and v/v, such as letters, reports, etc.
• Contributes to the administrative aspects related to the work of the delegates involved, such as organization of movements,
• Travel within Iraq (30% at least of his/her working time) and assist in the organisation of meetings with the relevant interlocutors or the follow-up of specific files.
• Work in coordination with the Tracing department.
• Updates the filing system
