Responsibilities:
Shell Trading integrates a worldwide trading network with an unsurpassed global portfolio in crude oil, refined products, natural gas,electrical power, and chemicals and has larger locations in London, Houston, Calgary, Singapore, Dubai, Rotterdam and Barbados. Shell Trading is one of the world's largest energy traders and is a key segment of the Royal Dutch/Shell portfolio. Shell Trading includes 3 gas divisions - SEEL (pipeline gas in Europe) SENA (pipeline gas and power in North America) and SILS (LNG Supply and Trading globally)
SILS is the fastest growing area of the STn network, in terms of size, and revenue.
The Freight team is responsible for:
- Direct relationship management with ship owners and charterers relating to SILS business, within context of strategic relationship plan (if any).
- Freighting and chartering activities.
- Shipping economics for these activities
- Short term fundamental shipping analysis as support to gas and shipping trading businesses.
- Management of SILS Freight P&L, including price and volume exposure management, bunker price risk management etc.
- Work with LNG trading desks to seek optimal logistics solutions in LNG trading. Be proactive in looking for opportunities that might give traders an "edge".
Proactively support the creation of value in the SILS book, by working to divert, convert and perform ex-ship cargo / charter + FOB cargo swaps.
- Proactively support the development of value in the mid and long term trading books by providing shipping input into deal framing / structuring sessions.
- Drafting / commenting on shipping clauses in SPAs / MSAs / LLA / COU, other LNG purchase / sale agreements consistent with contracting standards set by STS.
- Direct interface with vetting / terminal acceptability groups for vessel and port clearance.
- Management of vessel and cargo operations, working with STS/2 if Shell owned / managed.
- Develop fleet profile and procurement strategy, in collaboration with STS, for projects where SILS will lift volumes FOB.
- Develop freight derivatives and other new concepts and manage for profit.
Contract management / Cargo Support
- Handling of disputes / issues on charters.
- Ownership of brokerage contracts / relationships as required consistent with Shell Trading brokerage policy.
