JOB SUMMARY:
As a project engineer, you will assist the project management in carrying out all kinds of projects. Your responsibility can range from directing a team of individuals and keeping track of a project's status to evaluating economic factors for future jobs. Essentially, you will oversee the various stages of development for a variety of products and projects. You must make sure that the various parts are progressing, and that the project works as a whole. Generally, you will get involved at every level of the project from concept to production and everything in between. You may also have a wide range of different projects on the go at the same time, all at different phases of development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Discussing requirements with the client and other professionals like architects, surveyors and building contractors
• Analyzing survey, mapping and materials-testing data with computer modeling software
• Drawing up blueprints, using computer aided design (cad) packages
• Judging whether projects are workable by assessing materials, costs, time and labour requirements
• Assessing the environmental impact and risks connected to projects
• Preparing bids for tenders, and reporting to clients, public agencies and planning bodies
• Managing, directing and monitoring progress during each phase of a project
• Making sure sites meet legal guidelines, and health and safety requirements.
