A luxury resort/residential island in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Chief Engineer. Successful candidate should have 3- 5 years experience as a Chief Engineer in a full service resort.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the infrastructure/mep consultants and contractors during construction for the next 12 months. In parallel since the development is phased the person will manage maintenance operations of completed areas including villas, guest rooms, building structure, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C. systems, power plant, reverse osmosis water plant, sewage treatment plant and related equipment in accordance with service, preventative maintenance and energy conservation standards and programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest and service areas to maintain them in proper working order and appearance. Coordinate all renovation, expansion, and special projects.
Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance and energy conservation programs for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, mechanical equipment, building systems, etc. according to Corporate and Resort standards. Ensure compliance with Corporate policies, international standards, local regulations, and other environmental considerations. Develop and maintain Resort maintenance procedures, staffing, and training in order to achieve property maintenance and guest service objectives.
Responsible for preparing the annual Resort capital budget, maintenance Department operating budget, utility budget, and 5-year capital plan. Manage Departmental operations and capital projects to achieve budgeted goals. Support Corporate engineering in development of maintenance service contracts and supervise performance of contractors on property. Chief Engineer will directly supervise all property maintenance staff to ensure high quality preventive, corrective and guest demand maintenance services are provided to maintain the Resort property and ensure pleasant and trouble-free guest experiences. Direct and monitor design and planning by Corporate Maintenance and Projects and supervise and coordinate implementation of on-property capital, construction, renovation, building system, equipment, and engineering related preventive maintenance activity and projects.
Responsibilities construction Phase
• Assist the team in negotiating with the external MEP consultants, contractors and vendors for their appointment.
• strong practical and analytical knowledge for system selection and value engineering options.
• Design review of mep system
• Coordination with other trades and client changes and liaise local authority / statuary body for necessary approvals
• Experience and knowledge of local authority codes and guide lines.
• Periodic and preventive maintainence of all equipment, electrical systems.
• Provide clear direction to the external MEP consultants and other stakeholders on the projects MEP design objectives, monitor regularly and provide feedback on projects MEP design and planning.
• Review and approve MEP drawings keeping in mind cost, quality and time effectiveness.
• Assist the Project Manager in critical financial, engineering and feasibility analysis of MEP design proposals made by MEP consultants.
• Should be well aware of brands, makes, types for equipment's, materials of all items of MEP required in projects.
• Should be well versed in reviewing Tender Documents, BOQ and specifications.
• Should be able to review consultant drawings with respect to D.B Details, SLDs of all MEP works, panel details, plant rooms, D.G sets, Pumps, water supply and drainage system, firefighting system, HT and LT works, Substations, CCTV, PAS, Access controls, BMS etc. And work with PMC to get these approved and signed off by developer/hotel operator and project manager.
