GIS Software Engineer/Specialist - Qatar Mobility Innovations Center Jul 20th 2013, 10:05 Description: The Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) is looking for a full time employee to join its platform development group. The candidate will lead activities related to GIS software development and geo-database design and implementation. The group is responsible for the architecture, development and delivery of software-based solutions and applications targeting different industry sectors including Intelligent Transportation, Environment, and Healthcare. Key Responsibilities: • GIS • Design, implement, maintain, and manage GIS data and its corresponding geo-databases • Retrieve, process, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support location-based web, mobile, voice, and SMS applications • Migrate existing spatial databases that are stored in various formats into relational DBMS • Develop scripts to automate and enhance the efficiency, accuracy and abilities of the GIS Platform at QMIC • Develop the geo-database to be easily scalable in size and content by anticipating future developments • Assist with the installation, support and maintenance of ESRI ArcGIS products and any spatial database related software • Share GIS expertise with other team members to facilitate the development of location-based algorithms and services • Updating geo-layers on regular schedules (once or twice a year) • Drive and monitor QA activities for the internally produced geo-layers • DBA • Work with senior DBA on database design, implementation, and enhancements • Monitor the database performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses to database users • Help developers to optimize queries, stored procedures and database design • Assist in defining, developing, managing, and testing maintenance plans for the database systems • Install and test new versions of DBMS • Control database access permissions and privileges • Troubleshoot database issues on production and test servers Job Details Date Posted: 2013-07-20 Job Location: Doha, Qatar Job Role: Technology/IT Company Industry: Information Technology Preferred Candidate Career Level: Mid Career Degree: Bachelor's degree / higher diploma Apply Now - Jobs in Qatar - Search All Jobs
