Position Purpose:
In this position, you will be responsible for providing refinery pressure equipment integrity assurance. You will ensure all pressure equipment is designed, fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, modified and repaired in a manner that provides pressure integrity and cost effective reliability.
Equipment includes pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, relief valves and piping systems.
You will ensure compliance with pressure equipment laws and regulations and applicable industry codes, standards and recommended practices.
You will be responsible for establishing inspection schedules, identify corrosion threats, monitor equipment condition, analyze inspection data, and make recommendations to ensure safe operation of pressure equipment.
Position Accountabilities:
• Establishing equipment inspection schedules with guidance from API codes.
• Monitoring and inspecting the equipment within established schedules, analyzes inspection data, and recommends repairs to restore equipment integrity
• Carries out, coordinates and supervises inspection work assignments in the refinery. This includes performance of inspection work, preparation of specifications for the methods of cleaning and repair required and the supervision of inspection work being done by others.
• Reviews all associated QA / QC documents from contractors performing work on refinery including but not limited to ITP's (inspection and test plans) and weld procedures.
• Carries out inspection of fabrication shops outside the refinery to ensure that only qualified shops are allowed to fabricate equipment for the refinery.
• Carries out inspection of newly purchased materials to ensure they conform to the specifications of the purchase order.
• Coordinates staffing for inspection & turnarounds and preparation of shutdown work lists.
• Prepares inspection reports based on inspection findings. Reviews and/or recommends repair or replacement of equipment.
• Ensures equipment inspection records are kept up to date. Supervises contract inspection personnel in the preparation of inspection records and entering into the refinery Inspection computer program..
• Performs walkabout inspection of on-stream equipment.
• Controls, monitors and supervises welding jobs in the refinery. Reviews and approves all welding procedures prior to any welding job. Maintains and updates the list of refinery qualified welders.
• Maintains an Inspection database which contains inspection data of critical equipment such as columns, LPG spheres, storage tanks, etc.
• Assesses capabilities of contractor and vendors for accreditation for the refinery. Makes recommendations based on his assessment to ensure that only qualified vendors and contractors are accredited.
• Issues, maintains and updates Inspection procedures relating to material selection, welding, heat treatment, etc.
• Ensures that refinery inspection tools and equipment are kept in good condition.
