Reporting To: Operations Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible for managing the design team as well as reviewing the awarded projects technical documents in addition to assigning the design team who will be responsible for each project. The Technical Manager is also responsible for monitoring the designing process and ensuring that the quality of the output meets the organization and client standards.\
Main Responsibilities:
• Strategic/Planning:
o Promoting and implementing sustainable design practices.
o Planning all engineering activities.
o Leading and providing strategic direction to enable management to carry out innovative initiatives at all levels.
o Strategically deciding on correct product, service and solution mix for future of company and foresees future client demand.
• Technical:
o Developing and implementing high-standard designing processes.
o Assessing and analyzing projects technical documents.
o Addressing missing information before starting the design phase.
o Planning, directing and coordinating design and engineering activities pertaining to contracts, bids and purchase estimates.
o Monitoring the projects specification documents preparation.
o Reviewing and approving the final designs before being submitted to clients.
o Monitoring the preparation and development of method statement and technical submittals.
o Approving the quantities purchased.
• People Management:
o Staffing the subordinate positions in line with Gulf Steel needs and standards.
o Leading, supporting, and motivating the department to achieve optimal performance.
o Monitoring and evaluating the performance and the development of the designers, engineers and detailers as well as setting their training and development plan.
• Interdepartmental:
o Communicating with the Production Manager to clarify and resolve any conflict during the production phase.
o Communicating with the projects manager during the implementation phase for technical related issues.
o Supporting the sales and estimation team during the business development activities through presenting Gulf Steel technical solution.
• External Relations:
o Communicating with client during the engineering phase to ensure meeting their expectations.
o Assigning and communicating with external sub-consultants when required.
• General:
o Achieving operational excellence and cost optimization across design and engineering activities.
o Providing reports to operations manager on the performance of the team to enable informed decision making and responsiveness.
o Undertaking other related duties assigned by the operations manager.
o Delegating tasks and responsibilities for the purpose of developing
