1. To ensure the Company's Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently
across the organization.
2. To monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety Policy and Practice and to
develop and implement new policy and procedure documents as required.
3. To develop, implement and evaluate a Health and Safety Action Plan for the
Company, and to contribute to the development and delivery of the Company's
Business Plan.
4. To identify and meet employee training needs in relation to health and safety.
5. To develop and deliver training sessions for managers and frontline employees.
6. To consult employees on Health and Safety issues and to support and
develop the role of the Company's Health and Safety Committee, including
arranging, and attending meetings.
7. To advise the Board and Management Team on the implications of current
and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating
options, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure
compliance across the organization.
8. Support managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best
practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support
as needed.
9. To work with managers and staff to ensure risk assessments are prepared
and reviewed as necessary.
10. To assist line managers in implementing Health and Safety systems and
procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), in a consistent and
effective manner.
11. To carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety
systems and procedures, and identify and implement improvements.
12. To manage the collection, storage and analysis of accident and other health
and safety data and to produce management reports, identify trends and
recommend action.
13. To ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out, e.g.
testing of portable electrical appliances and the review of risk assessments.
14. To investigate or, where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the
circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent
a recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action
taken.
15. To manage, develop and support the Health & Safety team.
16. To provide a specialist Health and Safety perspective to management and
the Board when developing new and existing housing services, policies and
procedures.
17. To access professional support and guidance from other relevant
organizations and external sources as necessary and to develop networks for
sharing information.
18. To support managers in the development and implementation of effective
Business Continuity plans to minimize disruption to critical functions.
19. To monitor, evaluate and review the Company's Business Continuity plans.
20. To adopt safe working practices in line with current Company procedures and to
undertake appropriate training in Health and Safety.
21. To promote equality and diversity in the workplace by helping to deliver services
which are accessible and appropriate to customer needs.
22. To represent Wigan and Leigh Housing in a reputable and professional manner at all
times.
23. To maintain a high standard of customer care and to contribute towards the
development of a culture of customer service excellence within the organization.
24. To contribute to the development of a respectful and mutually supportive working
environment.
25. To undertake any other duties, as requested by management, commensurate with the
grade of the post.
