1. Conducting risk assessments for, and the development of, annual internal audit plans;
2. Prepare risk based audits /reviews.
3. Develop and discuss findings, recommendations and time lines for corrective action with responsible officer of operations audited and monitor the implementation status of agreed recommendations.
4. Make presentations of audit results to management of the audited operation.
5. Monitor the status of audit recommendations and appraise the adequacy of follow-up actions taken on audit findings and recommendations.
6. Maintain and update audit programs, tools and techniques.
7. Lead or contribute to corporate audit planning, risk assessment processes, and office strategic and operational planning.
8. Conducting Internal Control evaluation and risk assessment to identify loopholes and areas requiring management intervention to prevent frauds, embezzlements, misappropriations, misuse and wastage and ensuring that objectives of the organization are achieved economically, efficiently and effectively;
9. Preparing special reports when asked for by the management on various aspects of financial management, including asset management and security, financial reporting, decision support systems, management Information systems;
10. Assisting the finance department in preparation SOPs in critical areas like meeting financial obligations under procurements and the process itself. Specifying internal checks including pre-audit checks, adherence to policies procedures and compliance with rules, laws and regulations to ensure that payments to contractors/consultants are made by them in accordance with the stipulated guidelines of the government and donor agencies.
11. Ensuring that systems exist for generation of accurate and reliable financial and other information;
12. Completing on-site business audits, evaluating the effectiveness of controls and writing up reports
13. Challenging current working practices and finding ways to improve internal risk controls
14. Proactively evaluating risks and internal controls against changing trends and market/economic conditions
15. Reviewing compliance, ensuring the organization is adhering to rules, codes or practice, business ethics, internal guidelines and principles
