To plan, schedule and supervise the work activity of the entire drilling departments so as to obtain objectives established by operations management as per the time, cost and safety budgets set for each drilling site.
Plan and direct drilling, well completion and work over operations for GDI, ensuring that all operations are thoroughly researched, engineered, programmed and implemented in a safe and effective manner.
Keep abreast of new development in drilling technology and share relevant information with subordinates to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness.
Review and approve operational engineering reports for aspects such as drilling, well completion, work over, flow test and annual drilling performance to maintain smooth progress of work.
Provide technical advise for drilling contractors and consultants and prepare technical assessment of responses to tenders for drilling services and materials.
Recommend solutions and give advice for serious drilling problems to prevent recurrence.
Oversee and monitor progress of contracted services to ensure that all work is effectively supervised and administered.
Maintain appropriate well control certifications and operate the drilling unit in accordance with safe well control practices to ensure compliance with GDI drilling standards and local regulatory requirements.
Ensure all personnel operating on the rig comply with GDI's and local regulatory requirements so as to ensure operating within the international standards.
continuously inspect drilling unit and ensure compliance with all regulatory body requirements.
Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of drilling activity is carried out in a efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
Monitor the financial performance of given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
Recommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and control covering a specific area of drilling activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of drilling activity to guarantee employees safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
