Job purpose:
The Physiotherapists is responsible for educating patients on the fundamentals of the clinic, demonstrating techniques and methods of participation. Observes participants and initiates corrective measures necessary to improve their skills and fitness outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conducts orientation, educates patients on program design based on each individual's unique skeletal relationships and promotes benefits leading to long term biomechanical stability. Assesses patient's fitness level and encourages and helps them meet and reach their fitness goals.
2. Reviews consent form with patient and secures signed consent prior to commencing program.
3. Demonstrates exercises, noting area of focus and emphasizing proper form to prevent injury and promote full benefits of the exercise.
4. In collaboration with Nurse, educates patient on nutrition, promotes a healthy diet and provides encouragement in the following recommended dietary and exercise protocols.
5. Counsels patients on the benefits of proper ergonomics for both home and work activities. Provides general tips and recommendations on how to modify day-to-day activities and tasks to support spine health.
6. Liaises with Patient Management Advocate and Nurse to ensure that informational brochures are distributed and reviewed with patients.
7. Initiates follow-up with patients to answer questions, review technique and provide encouragement.
8. Documents patient care ensuring all entries are accurate and legible and that information system are maintained.
9. Promotes the clinic's products, educating patients and interested clients on the benefits of the clinic's integrated approach to better health.
10. Maintains Exercise room ensuring it is kept neat and tidy and that equipment is well maintained.
11. Participates in sponsored community events in order to educate the public and professionals on spine related concerns and treatment breakthroughs available through the clinic.
